Very attractive but.... |
I purchased this phone some months ago.
At first sight it looks great, nice design, an amazing screen visible in the sun, bluetooth, infrared... ok no mp3 player, but in change it has a great speaker for polyphonic ringtones. The display and menu interface is good too but here is when problems arise.
Everything is very very slow. You press a button, 2 seconds later u got the answer for it. I thought that i would get used to it, but it's awfully annoying believe me. Even when you are typing in an sms, a mobile phone's most used feature. You press "2" three times to get a C, but the result is always retarded by a second. I mean its not like u press the button and get the letter that instant, You press the button, wait and get the letter. Then if you are a fast typer like I am, you type in the entire sms, and on the display and you can only see half of it yet. You have to wait for the phone to finish it and then send the sms.
Another recent problem is that buttons get stuck. I solved the problem with recent Nokias I had by just opening up the cover, clean the buttons and close everything back. If that didnt solve it, I could always go buy a new cover for some $20 and i would have got a sort of new cell phone. The T637 does not has this function of cover changing.
Also a very delicate equipment in this phone is the lousy joystick. It's hard to use at first, but once u get used to it, it starts playing bad jokes. At first it did nothing when i pulled it down, then when that got fixed (automatically), the right didnt work, then it fixed (always amazingly automatically) and something else stopped working.
The camera is supposed not to be bad from what sony erricson is telling us it is. I mean it's not bad, but for a mobile such as the T637, i would have pretended better. You wont go take an important photo with this mobile phone, because you will probably end up deleting it anyway.
All in all i dont recomment this mobile phone. It's not worth it, becuase after a few months you'll end up throwing it away and buying another one anyway. Might as well buy a good one now. |

A thing of the past? |
| My wife and I have two of these phones through AT&T. With the merge of cingular I went into a cingular to add two of my children to the plan. I was told that the T637 would not work with the new plans of cingular and that I needed to buy new phones. I was happy with my phones but quite dissatified with what I was told about the merge. I bought new phones and now have two perfectly fine T637's. Money well spent? I dont think so. |

Good One.. surely not the Best one |
| The colour of the phone is absolutely great when compared to its prior model T610. The screen resolution is good, but the photos taken with the camera doesn't come well, ofcourse it solves the tiny purposes on the go. Bluetooth connectivity is great.. I have a good time making it synchronize with my laptop and also transfer the images across. Over all, its a great phone at a great deal (I got $200 back :)) |
