Not a good experience

Wow! I believed the writeups about how wonderful these speakers were. I should not have, they are terrible! #1 they are much, much bigger that the pictures show,#2 they sound awful - mushy, unclear. They are a poor excuse for a speaker system. No amount of tweaking with the equalizer made them sound any better. They are just no good at all, in my opinion. I am an audiofile from many years ago, I and my ears know what I am talking about.
My recommendation is: DO NOT BUY. -- FOR ANY PRICE!

Smooth Sound

At low to moderate volume the Promedias perform well with music. Highs have a nice detail, mids are smooth and bass is tight (and suprisingly strong). The sound pulls you in when listening to vocals, excellent imaging coming from a pair of computer speakers. Again at moderate volume they sound fantastic but the low end starts to suffer a little if pushed hard enough. Dont get me wrong though, they can go pretty loud considering the size of the speakers but dont expect chest thumping bass. Also I think they would perform optimally from a 1-5ft listening area. I still cant get over how great the mids sound, best multimedia satellites Ive heard so far. Probably has something to do with the dual cone design. The best way to describe these speakers would be like having mini floorstanders on your desktop, instead of the tiny and hollow sound you get with most satellites the Promedias put out a full rich sound.

Great sound from a small package -- perfect for dorm rooms.

I got these speakers for my son. He's going off to college soon. I thought that he could use these speakers with his laptop instead of bringing his stereo. The speakers are just about perfect for a dorm room. The sound quality is excellent, and the volume level is adequate for a single room. The size of the speakers is just about right for a dorm room -- you can set them on your desk or book shelf and still have room left.

The lack of a sub woofer means that you can't shake your fillings loose with these speakers. But you won't disturb everyone else on your floor with the baseline of your music, either.

If you're looking for a surround-sound experience, these speakers won't deliver. But if you want to play some tunes at a neighbor-friendly sound level, the quality of the speakers is sure to please.
