A nice headset that worth's considering |
I bought this headset about a month ago and overall I am very satisfied. It has very good sound quality, its lightweight, nice looking and also has great battery life. However, what I don't like is that usually I know that the battery is out at the last moment. In addition, I don't really like it is that sometimes when you have it at full volume the other party hears an echo.
The reception 95% of the time is very good at the 30-40ft range. Sometimes there is some minor cracking of the voice if you are at the limits of the range or if you are in an environment that are many cordless phones and Wi-fi around. At my interference free small 1bd apartment I can leave my phone anywhere and go anywhere with excellent quality. In addition, I also notice is better to have the phone at the same side of your body as the headset; that makes sense because your body (bones & salty water) block the Bluetooth signals.
You can answer a call just by unfolding the headset, that's good, but what is not good for me is that the headset takes 4-5seconds to answer the call so I don't use it that much. What I do I answer the phone and if it is going to be a long call I use the headset. However, if I am expecting many calls I just leave it on me, you don't feel it anyway, it just consumes some battery to be on standby.
Furthermore, I use the headset with my computer for talking with Skype or MSN, the sound quality again is great but occasionally the connection with the computer is muted and is hard to bring back on, I haven't figured out the reason for that. In my computer I have a Zonet USB Bluetooth adapter.
Finally, in harsh environments (car with windows open; too much noise around) I found the headset to be at least as good as my wired headsets, if I wasn't able to make a conversation with my wired headset or with my handset I couldn't either with the HS850 so I don't feel I am loosing something. However, it seems that there some other headsets out there (based on reviews) that might perform better in such environments. Just don't count too much on HS850 in those situations. |

Can't live (or drive) without it |
| This is a terrific device. I use it with my Motorola RAZR V3 and it works great. I don't know what I did without a wireless headset. Two things that could be better - first it doesn't recognize ring tones from my phone (but I think that is the phone's problem not necessarily the headset), and second, it occassionally will drop the signal from my phone causing me to scramble to figure out how to go from the headset to my phone. This doesn't happen very often so it really isn't that big of a deal. |

HS850 review |
I originally bought one with my Razor phone (3 phones now). The first one was defective, second one works fine. A little difficult for those of us technically challenged to set up but my wife has taken it over and loves it. Looking at getting the car set up next. Hands free is the way to go. A little more consumer friendly and this would be a fantastic tool. I will buy a second one and I am a real estate broker.
